EMD Millipore Teams Up with the Vince Wilfork Foundation to Donate Backpacks and School Supplies to Boston-Area Students

September 18, 2013, Billerica, MA — EMD Millipore, the Life Science division of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, donated $5,000 and school supplies for children in need.

Why:      
EMD Millipore recently donated $5,000 to The Home for Little Wanderers, the nation’s oldest child welfare agency which serves some of the most vulnerable children and families in Massachusetts. EMD Millipore was joined in this effort by their charitable partner, the Vince Wilfork Foundation. In addition to the donation, EMD Millipore employees and the Vince Wilfork Foundation together donated 80 donated backpacks and several bins of school supplies for the children.

“Together with the generous support of local residents and partners like EMD Millipore and the Vince Wilfork Foundation, we are able to help prepare children for successful futures and build their self-esteem,” explained Meredith Bryan, Vice President for Development and Communications, The Home for Little Wanderers. “Many youth in our community-based and residential programs come from families that are struggling to make ends meet. From our clinicians who provide mental health services in the Boston Public Schools to those who work with foster families in the community, we know that too many of our clients can’t afford required back-to-school basics for students as they prepare for the academic year,”

EMD Millipore continues to support education through several initiatives, including a recent donation of a $5,000 the Read to a Child program and their annual scholarship program.
