ApplicationThis Anti-Caveolin-1 Antibody, phospho-specific (Tyr14) is validated for use in IP, WB for the detection of Caveolin-1.
Key Applications
  • Immunoprecipitation
  • Western Blotting
Application NotesWestern blotting 1:1,000 (for best results, incubate membrane with diluted antibody in 5% BSA, 1X TBS, 0.1% Tween-20 at 4°C with gentle shaking, overnight)

Immunoprecipitation 1:50

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.
Biological Information
ImmunogenKLH-conjugated, synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Tyr14 of human caveolin-1
Epitopephospho-specific (Tyr14)
HostRabbit
SpecificityRecognizes caveolin-1 only when phosphorylated at tyrosine 14. This antibody does not cross-react with caveolin-2, -3 or caveolin-1beta, or the short isoform of caveolin-1.

Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe scaffolding protein encoded by this gene is the main component of the caveolae plasma membranes found in most cell types. The protein links integrin subunits to the tyrosine kinase FYN, an initiating step in coupling integrins to the Ras-ERK pathway and promoting cell cycle progression. The gene is a tumor suppressor gene candidate and a negative regulator of the Ras-p42/44 MAP kinase cascade. CAV1 and CAV2 are located next to each other on chromosome 7 and express colocalizing proteins that form a stable hetero-oligomeric complex. By using alternative initiation codons in the same reading frame, two isoforms (alpha and beta) are encoded by a single transcript from this gene.

UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: SwissProt: Q03135 # May act as a scaffolding protein within caveolar membranes. Interacts directly with G-protein alpha subunits and can functionally regulate their activity (By similarity).
SIZE: 178 amino acids; 20472 Da
SUBUNIT: Homooligomer. Interacts with GLIPR2, NOSTRIN, SNAP25 and syntaxin.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Golgi apparatus membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Cell membrane, caveola; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Note=Membrane protein of caveolae. Potential hairpin-like structure in the membrane.
TISSUE SPECIFICITY: In muscle and lung, less so in liver, brain and kidney.
PTM: The initiator methionine for isoform Beta is removed during or just after translation. The new N-terminal amino acid is then N-acetylated.
SIMILARITY: SwissProt: Q03135 ## Belongs to the caveolin family.
