Description

DescriptionAnti-TRAM1 Antibody
Alternate Names
  • translocation associated membrane protein 1
  • translocation-associating membrane protein 1
  • translocating chain-associating membrane protein
Background InformationTranslocating chain-associated membrane protein 1 (TRAM1) belonging to the TRAM family is a multi-pass membrane protein, a component of the translocon, found within the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER). TRAM1 functions as a mediator for the lateral movement of specific signaling peptides and transmembrane segments into the membrane bilayer from the translocon. However, TRAM1 is not necessary for all transmembrane proteins to translocate into the ER. Studies indicate a possible role for TRAM1 in dislocating membrane glycoprotein, which would enable TRAM1 to have a dual role in nascent polypeptide processing and ER protein dislocation.

FormatAffinity Purified
Control
  • Human liver lysate
PresentationPurified rabbit polyclonal in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl) with 0.05% sodium azide.
Applications
ApplicationDetect TRAM1 using this Anti-TRAM1 Antibody validated for use in WB, IH(P).
Key Applications
  • Western Blotting
  • Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin)
Application NotesWestern Blot (SNAP ID) Analysis: 1 µg/mL of this antibody has been shown to detect TRAM1 in 10 µg of human liver lysate.

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:500 dilution of this antibody has been shown to detect TRAM1 in squamous epithelial carcinoma tissue, with staining patterns restricted to malignant cells.

Antibody TypePolyclonal Antibody
Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThis gene encodes a multi-pass membrane protein that is part of the mammalian endoplasmic reticulum. The encoded protein influences glycosylation and facilitates the translocation of secretory proteins across the endoplasmic reticulum membrane by regulating which domains of the nascent polypeptide chain are visible to the cytosol during a translocational pause. [provided by RefSeq].
Gene Symbol
  • PRO1292
  • TRAM1
  • TRAMP1
  • PNAS8
Purification MethodAffinity Purfied
UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: Stimulatory or required for the translocation of secretory proteins across the ER membrane.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Belongs to the TRAM family.

Contains 1 TLC (TRAM/LAG1/CLN8) domain.
Molecular Weight~36 kDa observed (43 kDa calculated molecular weight).
Western blot analysis shows that TRAM1 is an abundantly expressed, approximately 36 kDa microsomal glycoprotein. Functional analysis indicated that TRAM influences glycosylation and is stimulatory or required for the translocation of secretory proteins (Oresic, K., et al. JBC (2009). 284:5905-5914.).
