DescriptionDisialoganglioside prepared from bovine gray matter. Useful as a differentiation marker of tumor cell growth. Protein kinase C inhibitor. Readily converted to GM1 by bacterial and mammalian sialidases without detergent or bile salts. One mole yields 2 moles of sialic acid by thiobarbituric acid assay. The molecular weight is based on stearoyl-18:0.
