Description
OverviewA cell-permeable, TAT conjugated peptide derived from the protein tyrosine phosphatase sigma (PTPsigma) wedge domain that binds to PTPsigma and relieves glial-derived chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (CSPG)-mediated inhibition. Shown to cross the blood-brain barrier. Does not bind to other CSPG receptors, such as LAR and NgRs. By blocking the PTPsigma-CSPG interaction it abolishes CSPG -mediated inhibition of axonal regrowth and sprouting. Shown to promote adult sensory neuron growth cone (~ 2.5 µM). Restores serotonergic innervations to the spinal cord below the level of injury and promotes progressive functional recovery of both locomotor and urinary systems after spinal cord injury in a rat model (11 µg/day).
