Background InformationWD repeat-containing protein 5 (also known as BMP2-induced 3-kb gene protein, WD repeat-containing protein 5, WD-repeat protein 5, Set1c WD40 repeat protein homolog, cilia and flagella associated protein 89) is a nuclear protein encoded by the WDR5 (also known as BIG3, CFAP89, SWD3) gene in human. This protein contains 7 WD (Trp-Asp) repeats and belongs to the WD repeat protein family whose members are involved in a variety of cellular processes, including cell cycle progression, signal transduction, apoptosis, and gene regulation. WD repeat-containing protein 5 is a component of several complexes that regulate histone methylation and acetylation levels, including ATAC (ADA2A-containing complex) complex, SET1 complex, MLL1/MLL, MLL2/3 (also named ASCOM complex), MLL4/WBP7, and NSL (non-specific lethal) complex.

      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThis gene encodes a member of the WD repeat protein family. WD repeats are minimally conserved regions of approximately 40 amino acids typically bracketed by gly-his and trp-asp (GH-WD), which may facilitate formation of heterotrimeric or multiprotein complexes. Members of this family are involved in a variety of cellular processes, including cell cycle progression, signal transduction, apoptosis, and gene regulation. This protein contains 7 WD repeats. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.

      Storage and Shipping Information
Storage ConditionsStable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
