DescriptionMouse monoclonal antibody purified from serum-free cell culture supernatant by thiophilic adsorption and size exclusion chromatography. Recognizes the the ~50 kDa VASP protein phosphorylated at Ser157.
BackgroundVASP (vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein), an established substrate of cAMP- and cGMP-dependent protein kinases in vitro and in living cells, is associated with focal adhesions, microfilaments, and membrane regions of high dynamic activity. VASP binds in vitro to profilin, zyxin, vinculin, and the Listeria sp. surface protein ActA. VASP also promotes actin nucleation and binds to actin filaments in vitro and associates with stress fibers in cells. Studies imply that VASP phosphorylation may act as an immediate negative regulator of actin dynamics. Phosphorylation of Ser157 in VASP can be used as a measure of PKA activity.
