Stopping Ebola and Other Epidemics

Ebola is no longer front-page news, thanks to extraordinary international efforts to contain the virus. But it remains a threat to several West African countries, and without sustained commitment may once again wreak havoc in the region – and beyond.

We’re proud to count among our customers a number of leading biotech and pharmaceutical firms that are working around the clock to develop treatments and vaccines for Ebola other infectious diseases – to stop them in their tracks before they reach epidemic or pandemic proportions. We’re excited about the innovative work they’re doing and the opportunity to support their efforts through products and services that enable all stages of their research and production. Examples of our support include:

• Collaborating with Novavax, which is using our Pod filters in the rapid manufacturing process for its Zaire (Makona) Ebolavirus Glycoprotein Vaccine.
• Working to fast-track orders for critical single-use products to support treatments for Ebola and other infectious diseases in development by several key customers, including Crucell, GSK and Emergent BioSolutions.

We’re also supporting the fight against Ebola and other deadly epidemics through grants and direct donations:

• A $50,000 charitable contribution to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to help accelerate development of an innovative diagnostics platform for Ebola and other emerging viral threats. The platform will track disease outbreaks in real time.
• Donations of our Direct-Q® 3 Water Purification Systems to hospitals and clinics in Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. These systems improve disease diagnosis by significantly reducing the risk of false test results due to poor lab water quality.
