A cell-permeable, metabolically-stable precursor of Rp-cAMPS (Cat. No. 116814) that acts as a competitive inhibitor of protein kinase A type I and II. During metabolic activation by esterases, the inhibitor and butyrate are released. Reported to inhibit glucose-induced proliferation of the pancreatic β-cell line, INS-1. More lipophilic and cell-permeable than Rp-cAMPS.

      SynonymsRp-MB-cAMPS, Na, PKA Inhibitor X
DescriptionA cell-permeable precursor of Rp-cAMPS (Cat. No. 116814), a PKA inhibitor. Rp-MB-cAMPS is cleaved by intracellular esterases to release butyrate and Rp-cAMPS. The Rp-cAMPS binds to the cAMP binding site on PKA type I and type II, thereby prevents holoenzyme dissociation and PKA activation. Has been shown to inhibit glucose-induced proliferation of the pancreatic β-cell line, INS-1. Note: 5 µmol = 2.19 mg.
