Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) for Your Pharmaceutical Formulation

When working on a pharmaceutical formulation, there are specific considerations to make and challenging hurdles to take before you can successfully launch your final drug product - formulation stability, release kinetics and bioavailability limitations just to name a few. No matter what your application need is - we are committed to understanding your requirements and enabling you with products and support to help you achieve your goals.

Our portfolio spans a wide range of pharmaceutical PVAs of different viscosities, hydrolysis grades and molecular weights and is well suited for a broad variety of pharmaceutical applications, including solid, liquid, and semi-solid formulations. It also includes two PVA-based excipients – Parteck® SRP 80 and Parteck® MXP – specially created to help you solve specific challenges and to make your formulation development easier and smoother.

Benefits of our Polyvinyl alcohol:

  • Wide range of pharmaceutical PVAs and PVA-based products for your specific application area
  • Multi-compendial material: specifications surpassing compendial requirements
  • Batch-to-batch consistency, supporting reliable reproducibility of quality and performance of your final drug product
  • Documentation support as part of the Emprove® Program

PVA in solid formulation

PVA is much more than coating and application areas in solid dose formulation extend well beyond that. Complementing our broad PVA portfolio are PVA-based Parteck® SRP 80 and Parteck® MXP excipients which were designed specifically for solid oral sustained-release formulations and for solubility enhancement via hot melt extrusion application, respectively.

PVA in liquid formulation

Viscosity enhancement, formulation stabilization and solubilization are just a few of the common liquid challenges which may be addressed by using PVA. We understand that quality is critical which is why we have added specifications to support improved patient safety and tolerability.

PVA in semi-solid formulation

PVA can be used as a major component of and as a matrix material for semisolid formulations. It is applied in topical creams, gels and transdermal patches. The raw materials’ ability to topically deliver a wide variety of drug molecules makes them ideal carriers, helping you make the most of your semi-solid formulations.
